Has Ian "the machine" Freeman ever fought in UFC? Being a newb to UFC I dont know. I heard he had a good rep but checked him out on youtube only to see him getting KO'd!

Freeman was in the UFC for a short time!  I remember him beating Mir but lost to Arlovski.  I think he got released after that.  He mainly fights in the Cage Rage in the UK now.

Anyone watch the Affliction MMA?.Fedor Emelianenko is a killer!!He was supposed to be joining the UFC but cant/wont get a contract as he still wants to do his Sambo Competitions,he fought Andrei Arlovski and knocked him out in about a minute,Arlovski looked like he was going to kill him them went in for a flying kick and Fedor put one right on his chin!!Think Fedor Emelianenko  would smash up UFC.Look up his fights , amazing Fighter and looks like a chubby old man.

Ajmacneil140 - I agree with you mate - Fedor must be one of the best MMA in the world right now or even EVER. His emotionless persona is so cold - the guy just keeps on taking them out. I truely believe he would be the ufc heavyweight champ is he did land a contract....

Ian Freeman was the first brit to ever fight in the UFC and the first guy to beat Frank Mir. (UFC 38 - 1st UFC show in London)

He's a really cool guy, who's technique is underrated. When he was active he regularly went over to US to train with Josh Barnett. He hits like a monster and is strong as ****.

He's just been given a suspended prison sentence for Tax evasion.

He fought Tiger White in a great fight at UFC 46 (i think)

Leigh Remedios 0-1 (Lost to Genki Sudo tho)
Mark Weir 1-0 (had fastest ko for a long time of 7 secs against Eugene Jackson)

Paul Kelly 2-1
Paul Taylor 2-3

For me personally - as a spectator, KO's are the daddy. As a fighter you have to take a win anyway you can - whether its by submission or KO or TKO or points - its all about the win man.

Ko's are cool but most people can throw a punch catch someone and get a ko! Subs have to be set up, they're more calculated.

Don't get me wrong there's some great strikers than can set up that big punch/kick but for everyone that can there's 3 that can't.

There's fighters that are technically pretty crap stood up that are just real tough and can hang with the great strikers just because they're tough. You get someone on the floor who has a a substandard ground game and put them with Maia, Nog, Filho, Mir, Jacare and they won't last and when the fight goes to the clinch (which it always will) the guy with the better grappling will dictate where the fight goes.

The proof in this is that everyone has seen the best strikers in mma at some point fight on the floor.

- chill P - I aint dissin the ground game! Ha! Arlovski must be one of the best strikers lost to Ricco Rodriguez cus his ground game lacked skill, but the again Gracie lost a few cus his striking was poor! Absolutley agree that all teh best strikers have been to the floor - because no matter how good a striker you are, you cant guarantee a KO! That one of the reasons I rate Fedor so much cus the guy doesnt seem to have a weakness - he can strike, grapple however you want it he can do it. Loved it when he kod arlovski...
