I have read previous posts regarding wrist pain, but mine is when im doing the pushing movements eg;Bench Press,Pressups,Dips and Military press ect,its a sharp pain but doesnt hurt on the pulling movements.Ive tried resting it,streching and even been to a doctor who just recommended rest. The only thing that seems to help is to wear a wrist support any of you guys had this or can think of anything else to help?

A sharp pain sounds like an underlying problem that needs sorting mate or an injury perhaps, might be worth seeing a different doctor for another oppinion or even asking for an x-ray just to be on the safe side as i for one wouldnt want to wrisk damaging something and feel its always best to get these things checked thouraly tbh

I used to be a personal trainer a few years back and I had a client who suffered from wrist pain and also tennis elbow. It may be totally different but his was caused by using a barbell as his wrists didnt sit naturally on them.

He got over it by using dumbells for Bench Press, Shoulder press etc... Using an EZ bar for biceps, triceps and also uprights rows, a lot of people get wrist issues using a straight bar for upright rows. Plenty of rest to recover, stretches and wrist curls to strenghten wrists and also improve mobility in the joint.

If you dont want to drop the bar varying the grip may help. Too wide a grip on a bench press bends your wrists outwards and can cause injury to the inside of your wrist (below the thumb).

Thought i would update my wrist situation,i have been doing wrist flexion/extension (Barebell/Dumbell wrist curls and reverse wrist curls)exersises about twice a week and also streching my wrists after each weight session. So far so good!!! mu7861 wrist exercises are the same as what what you do when you train forearms eg Barebell/Dumbell Wrist curls, and reverse wrist curls. Thanks for the advice.
