Bodybuilding Forum  /  Injuries  /  what have i done????
Posted by: Ricky, May 3, 2009, 2:39pm
come on then guys help me out here!
i havent injured myself in the gym but i woke up yesterday morning and have restricted movement in my right shoulder, i can move my arm but if try to lift my arm to the front with my arm straight but my palm facing the side of my body then i cant get my arm past parallel without pain wich causes my hand to go numb!
having said this i have been down the gym today and done straight leg deads and lunges, so effectively having a decent ammount of weight in my hands and it did not cause me any hassle but still got what can only be described as a nerve pintching type feeling in the joint by the front delt st the upper part!
if i bend my arm so my hand near my chest its fine and i can still upright row but as soon as i straighten it then the problem starts!
i know its a wierd one but i cant get to the docs till teusday and i aint sitting in casualty with a load of guys with self inflicted drinking injuries as it just fcuks me off to no end!
its making me a right moody bugger from messing my training up so any thoughts please share!!! :)

Lol only playin! ive had something similar before the doctor just told me to rest it and there wasnt really anything he could do straight away and if the problem persisted come back and were sort something from there...sounds like its rest time for you matey training will make the numbness and twinging a whole lot worse i found...i thought i could train through it..and although it wasnt in my shoulder it was horrible..

We all had that mate. Somedays I haven't been able to break bread. God only knows what it is. But that should clear up over 12-24 hours.

Problem i have is my back, normally get a trapped muscle that needs a good rub down so once a month or every other month i try get a sports massage or have a day of pimping my body.. sauna/jacuzi etc.. now probably just me but it personally makes my muscles feel alot better and less tight.. maybe worth trying out and see how you feel.

No idea what you have done but in the same sense with all the strain we put on our bodys week in week out we are bound to pull a muscle or something at one stage.

Only just getting over ripping a muscle in my foot, took months of ultrasound/shortwave sessions to repair it and also x2 a week massages by a physio.

Dear Ricky
whilst the adult in me would suggest you have trapped a nerve the realist in me says different.
Obviously you are in the early stages of "weak" which in turn leads to "feeble" and potentially
could deteriorate into full blown "gay" if you are not careful. I propose you immediately cease any
housework related activites, watch back to back "Ultimate Fighter", eat lots of red meat and have
Mrs Ricky nosh you off 3 times a day (obviously this is a medical requirement and thus does not
require any gift of shoes, handbags etc). Failure to follow this advice will lead to you having urges
to purchase Pet Shop Boy Cds and learn the words to Mamma Mia. Hope this helps.

Mate whilst I admire your intent to have Mrs Ricky nosh you 5-6 times a day I urge caution.
Whilst it is a manly thing to be noshed so often, it's also quite selfish. By having your Missus
spend all that time administering the noshing you are depriving her of the opportunity to spend
time in the kitchen preparing your food. However if you can persuade her Mum to cook then you
can up the noshing to double figures - anything else is suspect. However if her Mums a cr*p cook
then she can nosh and your Missus can cook. Sorted! Hope this helps.

well  went to see the doc this morning and---------------------------------- he hasnt got a clue whats up lmao he said sounds like a traped nerve due to numb feeling i keep getting in my hand/arm so all he could advise was keep it moving and even try to workout with it as it may help but obviously stop if i get any pain!
i have full range of movement now but still a litlle tender so going to see what i can manage down the gym later i think but not holding my breath!

another update lol i know how i done it now i rekon!!!
when i do knee raises with my arms locked onto the pads holding my entire body weight it must have forced my shoulder up and pintched some thing i say this because if i put weight on my arm by leaning on my elbow it pushes my shoulder thus pintching said nerve and sending my arm numb so no more hanging knee raises for me!
plus its the only thing i done different to normal last week so has to be the cause imo

as long as it isn't hampering your form then you should be ok. Just don't compensate for it on lifts.
